The Miracle of Mindfulness, Thich Naht Hanh

Thich Nhat Hanh is a buddhist monk and nobel prize nominee. His book is a simple guide to mindfulness. He describes mindfulness as the miracle by which we master, and restore ourselves. We are encouraged to contemplate, interdependency, impermanence and compassion to liberate us from our narrow views and achieve fearlessness.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is a beautiful short story of a boy on his journey to find hidden treasure. On the way he learns valuable lessons in present moment awareness and oneness from the teachers who cross his path. His innocence and openness make him the perfect student to receive the lessons.

Eckhart Tolle’s Power of Now, is the perfect text for understanding the importance of present moment awareness and living in “the now”. Tolle explains how we are the only species who are conscious of our thoughts. Our ability to watch our thoughts is unique to human beings. A perfect explanation of mindfulness in action.
